Adepting Through Insanity: Leveling Guide

Many people have asked me questions on what is the best power to level first, what my adept build is, why I chose Wide over Heavy Singularity, etc. I'm going to go over all the details of how I think the best way to level your Adept should go, level by level, as well as comments on specific powers.

The Adept Build, Level by Level:

Legend:
Level, what level you are currently at
(x points) the number of points you have BEFORE putting in any powers at that level
Power - x: the RANK the power will be after points are distributed

Note: I will be indicating what RANK I'm setting each power at, not the number of points put in. You can tell by the number from looking at the following entry.

Level 1: (0 free points). Warp - Rank 1, Singularity - Rank 1, Bonus Power - 1
Level 2: (2 points). Warp - Rank 1, Singularity - Rank 2
Level 3: (2 points). Warp - Rank 1, Singularity - Rank 2, Pull - Rank 1, Passive - Rank 1
Level 4: (2 points). Warp - 2, Singularity - 2, Pull - 1, Passive - 1
Level 5: (2) Warp - 2, Throw - 1, Singularity - 2, Pull - 1, Passive - 1
Level 6: (3) Warp - 2, Throw - 1, Singularity - 2, Pull - 1, Passive - 2
Level 7: (3) Warp - 2, Throw - 1, Singularity - 2, Pull - 1, Passive - 3
Level 8: (2) Warp - 2, Throw - 1, Singularity - 2, Pull - 1, Passive - 3
Level 9: (4) Warp - 2, Throw - 1, Singularity - 2, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 10: (2) Warp - 2, Throw - 1, Singularity - 2, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 11: (4) Warp - 3, Throw - 1, Singularity - 2, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 12: (3) Warp - 3, Throw - 1, Singularity - 3, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4

Note: At this point, you should now be past Horizon. You can now Respec your character. You can do this earlier or later, but from here on out I took the single point from my bonus power.

Level 13: (27) Respec'd. Warp - 3, Throw - 2, Singularity - 3, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 14: (3) Warp - 3, Throw - 2, Singularity - 3, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 15: (5) Warp - 3, Throw - 2, Wide Singularity - 4, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 16: (3) Warp - 3, Throw - 2, Wide Singularity - 4, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 17: (5) Heavy Warp - 4, Throw - 2, Wide Singularity - 4, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 18: (3) HWarp - 4, Throw - 3, WSing - 4, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 19: (2) HWarp - 4, Throw - 3, WSing - 4, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 20: (4) HWarp - 4, Heavy Throw - 4, WSing - 4, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4

A Note On Throw: I recommend, depending on the mission, you respec shepard based on what your up against. Heavy Throw is good against heavy enemies, and can usually produce instant kills. However, respec for Throw Field when fighting husks, when the level has lots of knock-off potential (collector platforms), or no chance for instant kills based on level design (indoor/low roof missions). Take Throw Field on Reaper IFF; make your life easier.

Level 21: (1) HWarp - 4, HThrow - 4, WSing - 4, Pull - 1, Nemesis - 4
Level 22: (2) HWapr - 4, HThrow - 4, WSing - 4, Pull - 2, Nemesis - 4
Level 23: (1) HWarp - 4, HThrow - 4, WSing - 4, Pull - 2, Nemesis - 4
Level 24: (2) HWarp - 4, HThrow - 4, WSing - 4, Pull - 2, Nemesis - 4
Level 25: (3) HWarp - 4, HThrow - 4, WSing - 4, Pull - 3, Nemesis - 4
Level 26: (1) HWarp - 4, HThrow - 4, WSing - 4, Pull - 3, Nemesis - 4
Level 27: (2) HWarp - 4, HThrow - 4, WSing - 4, Pull - 3, Nemesis - 4
Level 28: (3) HWarp - 4, HThrow - 4, WSing - 4, Pull - 3, Nemesis - 4
Level 29: (4) HWarp - 4, HThrow - 4, WSing - 4, Pull Field - 4, Nemesis - 4

Now that you have Pull Field, it's probably best to use Heavy Singularity, and as mainly a lockdown tool. However, Wide Singularity is still very good at pushing those enemies in cover out of cover.

Level 30: (1) HWarp - 4, HThrow - 4, HeavySing - 4, Pull Field - 4, Shockwave - 1, Nemesis - 4

Final Build: HWarp - 4, HThrow - 4, HSing - 4, Pull Field - 4, Shockwave - 1, Nemesis - 4

  5. I just started playing ME2 after carrying over my lvl 60 from ME. I played as an infiltrator before so I'm new to adept as well. What does "passive" stand for? I'm assuming it stands Biotic Mastery? Please help because I'm going to save my points until I'm certain.

  6. Do you have a guide for building squad members? I find this site awfully hard to navigate so I couldn't find it.
